Welcome to Driftin' Away Cottage on Little Gasparilla Island! Relax in our simple yet well-appointed cottage.

Happy guests have a sense of adventure, flexibility, ability to handle unknown challenges with grace and control like

ever-changing weather (heavy rain storms "FL Snow"), crazy high winds, high water & those bugs. Nature, nature, nature = beauty. 

We treat interior and exterior regularly but...it is an island! Power and water outages may occur unexpectantly. 

FPL and our on-Island Water Company will provide updates which I will forward to you.

Our island is ONLY Accessible by your boat or Pirate's Water Taxi.

Boat rentals are available in the area, see Getting Here tab-please know your mariner rules and tides!

Our beach house is 30 steps from deeded Dock 26 (you can see your boat from porch!)  one flight of stairs 

Short stroll to a private beach access.  Just. Do. Nothing. ~ that's actually doing "something" 

Home is Old Florida Island Style with all the basic amenities for a casual, relaxing stay. Smoking is prohibited.    

We Do Not allow pets at this time due to unintended upgrades and improvements since Ian.  Thank you.

• (2/1) 2 Bedrooms:  Queen and (2) Twins, 1 Full Bath, 1 Outside Enclosed Shower (ground level) 

• Quality mattresses, linen sets and pillows

• Bath towels, hand and washcloths

• Beach towels

• Home will be cleaned prior to arrival.  Please leave it better than you found it! Seems to be working :)

• Non-refundable cleaning fee is required/Pets case by case basis with house rules

• Kitchen: (4 Guests)

• Our water is ‘excellent’ so there is no need to bring water with you, city water, no cistern

• Stove top & oven, refrigerator and microwave, plates, cups, utensils 

• Manual Coffee Maker and Keurig

• Tea Kettle

• Pressure Cooker, (similar to a crock pot )

• 2 Slice Toaster

• Blender

• Pots and Pans, we have most items you'll need to cook

• Microwave

• Ice Maker, 7 minutes you'll have ice! 

• A few Ice Cube Trays - can buy ice for $10 a cooler full on island

• Brooms, sweeper, cleaning supplies for touch-ups :)

• Various Books, games, puzzles ~ adding more as we go

 

What to bring & special island notes:*

All your food and drinks, Publix grocery store nearby, large recycle bags to carry from car-boat/ferry-house

       (pre-cook chicken, burgers, casseroles for quicker meals.  Sandwiches, pb/j, fruit and pastas are great choices)

Ice, coolers-can by ice for $10 on island most days of the week, near Golf Cart Biz, Marsh St.

Bring 7 day supply of Paper products, marine-safe toilet paper, Zip Locs, trash bags, can leave behind unused:)

Trash must be brought off-island at the end of your stay.  Bring Black garbage bags. 

Pack light but bring cover-ups, sunscreen, shoes for Hot sand days and hats

Laundry soap (Washer & Dryer located on bottom deck)

Fishing Poles, get bait at marinas

CALL AHEAD for Pirate's Water Taxi. Plan for time to get a parking pass, and load/unload for ride at designated spot.

Abide to Mariner rules if you are bringing a private boat, discuss dock regs with Owner

Fridge will be empty when you arrive/will save unopened items unless discussed early

Please do not bring or use or Flush any wipes (even Flushables) in our toilet, septic will become a problem, thank you!

Please keep all grease out of sinks, there will be a can under sink for disposal and bring to bring off island with trash. 

Bring your favorite seasonings, the cabinet will have some basics.

We can arrange a private owner golf cart during your stay for a fee or reserve a golf cart at LGI Carts to see the whole island or just walk the paths and shoreline, many renters enjoy our home for it's proximity to bay and beach!  6 mths - 1 year advanced reservations recommended

The island now has the option of an upon-arrival or mid-stay grocery delivery service.  Have your groceries delivered on the day you arrive or send the shoppers to the mainland for additional groceries or things you might have forgotten call Island Grocery Delivery: Evan Merritt: 941-830-1346, again, Call min. 1 week Ahead of Trip!
